Breast Augmentation 101: How to Get Great Results
May 19th, 2011
Breast augmentation continues to be one of the most popular cosmetic procedures for women in the US and worldwide with a very high satisfaction rate. Â I think the key to getting a great result is communication: Â the patient has to let the surgeon know what they want in terms of size, feel, and look, and the surgeon has to let the patient know what is possible in their particular case and what it will take to get there. Â When there is clear communication, the results tend to be fantastic and patients are very happy, so here are a three things to consider when going in for your consultation:
Saline or Silicone: Â Which one will work best for me?
Both Saline and Silicone implants are available, and there are advantages and disadvantages to both. Â Nationwide about 60% of patients choose silicone implants, and in my practice that number is higher, closed to 90%. Â My patients tell me that the main reason they choose the silicone is the look and feel– if you want the most natural look and feel, especially if you’re really thin, in most cases silicone is the better option. Â At the consultation, we show you the different kinds of implants so you can feel them and this usually helps patients with their decision process.
What size implant should I choose?
The size of the implant that you ultimately select is based on a number of factors. Â These include your starting size and what size cup you want to be after the procedure, the width of your chest and the width of your breasts, and finally what we think your body could safely accommodate and would give you the results you want. Â For most patients, there are several implant sizes that would work well for them, and this is where communication is really important. Â I also think it’s helpful for patients to hold and even try on a few implants in a bra and T-shirt to get a sense at least of what their look will be, and ultimately it’s a decision we make together.
Do I need a breast lift also?
This is a really common question and one that requires some time to go over, but the bottom line in my opinion is this: Â if you need a lift, you should probably get one. Â Some patients are told that just having an implant, if they go big enough, will lift the breast significantly, and unfortunately this is not the case. Â Patients are concerned about the extra incisions associated with a lift, but in most cases patients are much happier with the improved shape of the breast with the lift, and the incisions fade significantly with time.
So breast augmentation is a very personal decision, but an exciting one for patients as well, and we can help you with the decision by going over all of your options with you, showing you before and after photos of women with similar body types and goals, and making sure all of your questions are answered– this way you’ll have all the information you need to make your decision and get great results!

May 2011 Case of the Month: Correction of Tuberous Breast Deformity
May 6th, 2011
This young woman has a classic tuberous breast deformity, where there is very little breast tissue present but all of it is centered right underneath her nipple. Â To correct this, I used silicone cohesive gel implants to augment the breasts and then reshaped her existing breast tissue with an incision just around the areola. Â This resulted in a better overall appearance to her breasts that are more in balance with her body frame.

April 2011 Case of the Month: Breast Augmentation with Lift
April 5th, 2011
This young woman was interested in breast enhancement after having had 3 kids. Â We wanted to both add fullness to her breasts as well as lift them into a better position. Â I performed a breast augmentation with silicone cohesive gel implants as well as a full breast lift with an incision around the areola and down the breast (a ‘lollipop’ incision) to create a more youthful, fuller look, as seen in her postop photos taken 6 weeks after her procedure.

March 2011 Case of the Month: Facial Rejuvenation and Rhinoplasty
March 10th, 2011
This very nice woman was interested in refinement and rejuvenation of her jawline, eyes, and nose. Â I performed a facelift, eyelid and brow rejuvenation, and a rhinoplasty to create a refined, elegant but natural appearance. Â Her postop photos are taken 4 weeks after her procedure and I think demonstrate how we can achieve natural results with features that are in balance with each other when we combine procedures.

February 2011 Case of the Month: Tummy Tuck
February 1st, 2011
This young woman was interested in a significant improvement to her abdominal contour after having had children. Â I performed a full tummy tuck and was able to not only tighten her abdominal muscles that had been stretched from pregnancy, but remove a large amount of excess skin and fat (including the tatoo on her right side) to create a dramatic improvement. Â The postop photos are taken a year and a half later, showing how long-lasting and durable this procedure can be.

January 2011 Case of the Month: Breast Lift
January 4th, 2011
This past winter we had several patients having procedures with plans to look their best for the warmer weather months to come. Â This woman was interested in rejuvenating her breasts after having had children. Â I performed a full breast lift to give her a perkier, more youthful look, and we were able to achieve this result without using implants.

December 2010 Case of the Month: Calf and Ankle Liposuction
December 4th, 2010
We know that liposuction works best for patients that have specific areas of fat that are stubborn to diet and exercise, and this patient is a great example of this. Â She’s in her 20s and very athletic, but her lower legs have excess fat that cause them to look much fuller than the rest of her body. Â I performed liposuction for the calves and ankles to help sculpt this area, narrow her legs and create more calf definition:

The Brazilian Butt Lift is Gaining Popularity in Seattle!
November 18th, 2010
The Brazilian butt lift is quickly becoming a very popular operation here in the northwest. Â It’s a great way for women to add some fullness to areas of that need a lift (often due to weight loss or aging) by simply using their own fat. Â The procedure is very straightforward and what we do is remove fat from the areas that may have too much (such as the love handles, outer and inner thighs), then concentrate the fat and use it to sculpt, fill and lift the gluteal region to give a more full, rounded look.
Here is a photo of one of my  patient’s taken during the procedure.  The first photo shows the areas that we will harvest the fat from (mainly the outer thighs and the lower back and love handles).  Patients get kind of a “two for one” because not only are we going to add fullness where they want it but we’ll also slim the areas they want thinner:
Before:
After we harvest and concentrate the fat, we then re-inject it into the key areas of the buttock that will create a more youthful, rounded appearance. Â Even laying down during surgery, you can see a very nice difference:
After:
What’s great about this procedure is that it’s your own tissue, not an implant– buttock implants can get infected or can be really uncomfortable, but with a Brazilian butt lift we’re using your own fat to get the results we want. Â The other nice thing is that we can use as much or as little as your fat as you like based on your goals for the procedure and what you want your final look to be.
Call our Seattle office at 206-464-0873 for more information on the procedure, including pricing and to schedule a consultation!

November 2010 Case of the Month: Eyelid Lift and Fat Removal
November 4th, 2010
This patient was very unhappy with the heavy bags of her lower eyelids that always gave her a tired look. Â Lower eyelid surgery is always a balancing act, and the trick is to take out enough of the excess fat as well as loose skin, but maintain a natural look. Â Her postop photos are take 6 weeks after her procedure, and I think they show a nice result, in balance with the rest of her features, without an “operated On” or “cat eye” appearance.
