Analyzing the Butt Lift

Seattle-Brazilian-Butt-Lift-Before-After

Buttock enhancement procedures are soaring in popularity as more women are discovering the benefits of body contouring. Over the last 15 years, the popularity of butt lifts has skyrocketed, increasing by more than 250 percent. Between 2014 and 2015 alone, the demand for butt implants and butt lifts increased by 36 percent each, and their popularity is expected to continue to soar with both men and women seeking to change this common trouble spot.

Buttock enhancement procedures allow people to change their rear views, add curves, and create more alluring silhouettes. These procedures can be used to add extra volume and lift to specific points in the buttocks, creating a fuller and rounder appearance.

The Ideal Butt

Women naturally tend to have rounder and more curvaceous buttocks and a woman’s shape is well-defined usually by her early 20s. However, by midlife the fat in this area can decrease. Weight loss, genetics, and other factors can lead to a smaller, flatter, or less rounded gluteal region.

In the past, a waist-to-hip ratio of 0.7 was believed to be the most attractive shape for women’s bodies. This belief was based on studies that focused on pageant winners, line drawings, and magazines. A study published in the June 2016 issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery focused on real women’s bodies and their waist-to-hip ratios and vertical proportions to identify the ideal butt size and shape. Researchers talked to nearly 1,000 respondents. They found that the most attractive waist-to-hip ratio for women was between 0.6 and 0.65, indicating a dramatically curvier shape with a narrower waist and a voluptuous bottom.

While this might be the perfect butt, each person’s body is as unique as they are. The best outcomes and most satisfactory results come when the patient’s individual anatomy is considered to create beautifully contoured, balanced silhouettes.

Brazilian Butt Lift or Butt Augmentation?

Buttocks augmentations and Brazilian butt lifts are often used as interchangeable terms, but they are two different procedures. A buttock augmentation uses an implant to add fullness or roundness to the buttocks. The silicone implant can add fullness and the desired shape to the gluteal region, but it can slip out of position or cause other complications over time.

Seattle plastic surgeon Dr. Shahram Salemy, who specializes in the Brazilian butt lift, uses fat transfers specifically because they allow him to sculpt excess fat and add volume and fullness to depleted areas at the same time. This technique ensures outstanding results that are natural, lasting, attractive, and durable without any risk of implant malposition.

During a Brazilian butt lift, fat is removed from one or several areas using liposuction. The fat is carefully harvested and it is then injected into the desired area. The procedure can offer results that look and feel incredibly natural. It has the added benefit of allowing patients to slim areas they want to be thinner or more toned (such as the tummy or love handles) and put it exactly where they want it.

Body Contouring Options

Although many do work to sculpt their figures in the gym, dramatic results are not always achievable. Brazilian butt lifts and other plastic surgery procedures can give women and men the edge they need to improve their figures and create the bodies they want.
According to a study presented at the October 2013 meeting of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in San Diego, 98 percent of women who had buttock enhancements were extremely satisfied with their results. Buttock enhancement procedures can be a great choice for those who are wanting to take control of their bodies and create beautiful new contours. Brazilian butt lifts can be used alone or in conjunction with a body lift or other body contouring or augmentation procedures.
