Celebrities Bouncing Back Quickly After Pregnancy: Did They Have a Mommy Makeover?

Did Kate Middleton have a Mommy Makeover

With celebrities seeming to bounce back quickly after pregnancy, you may be wondering if they have undergone a “mommy makeover”.  While we continue to wonder, here are the basics of a “mommy makeover” if you are considering undergoing one yourself.

A “mommy makeover” is becoming an increasingly popular option for women who want to reclaim their pre-pregnancy figures.  Some women find that diet and exercise alone cannot undo the physical changes of pregnancy and breastfeeding such as sagging breasts, loss of breast volume, flabby belly, excess lower abdomen skin, and pockets of fat on the body.

The makeover usually consists of procedures for the breasts, the tummy, and the lower body since these are the areas affected by pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. Popular mommy makeover procedures include breast enlargement, breast lift, tummy tuck (abdominoplasty), and liposculpture of the thighs, hips, and buttocks.

One important caveat of a mommy makeover is that the surgeries are body contouring and not weight loss procedures. That’s why many plastic surgeons recommend a woman to have stopped breastfeeding and for her weight to be close to target weight for a few months before undergoing a mommy makeover. For long-lasting results, it’s also suggested a woman does not have any more planned pregnancies before going through with the surgery. While a woman can still get pregnant after a mommy makeover, the pregnancy can change the cosmetic results and more procedures may be required.

In Dr. Shahram Salemy’s practice, his mommy makeover patients typically undergo a breast augmentation combined with a breast lift and tummy tuck, often as one procedure.

Dr. Salemy adds that mommy makeovers aren’t just for recent new mothers and can be performed on women in their 20s, 30s, 40s, and over.
