Seattle Plastic Surgeon Discusses Top Plastic Surgery Trends

Technological advances are playing a major role in shaping current trends in plastic surgery. New products and techniques in both surgical and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures are giving plastic surgeons an increasing array of tools to employ as they aid their patients in achieving the leaner, firmer bodies and more youthful appearances that they desire.

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ 2013 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, breast augmentations were the year’s most in-demand form of cosmetic surgery with nearly 300,000 procedures performed in the United States. Among minimally invasive procedures, injections used to reduce wrinkles, smooth fine lines and improve facial contours were clearly the most popular. Approximately 8.5 million cosmetic procedures involving Botulinum Toxin Type A or soft tissue fillers like hyaluronic acid were performed. What common denominator is shared by breast augmentations and injectable soft fillers? Both types of procedures have benefited from new technologies that make it possible for plastic surgeons to provide their patients with results that are more natural-looking and longer lasting.

“It’s truly exciting to see innovative products and methods help patients achieve their aesthetic goals and feel more true to themselves,” says Dr. Shahram Salemy, a respected, multi-award-winning board-certified plastic surgeon. The doctor reports seeing a growing curiosity about form-stable silicone implants, which imitate the teardrop shape of the breast. Patients are also intrigued by the Seri Silk Scaffold. As Dr. Salemy discusses in this video, “Breast Augmentation and Mastopexy with Seri Silk Scaffold,” this product is used to reinforce soft tissue where it’s needed during breast surgeries and tummy tucks.

“New technologies like form stable implants and the Seri Silk Scaffold allow plastic surgeons to offer better, more effective solutions to a wider range of patients,” says Dr. Salemy, who believes that these advances, and the excellent results an experienced, Board Certified plastic surgeon can create when using them, are factors in the continuing growth of plastic surgery.

A graduate of Yale University Medical School, Dr. Salemy has been consistently recognized as “One of America’s Top Plastic Surgeons” by The Consumer Research Council of America. At his offices in Seattle and Richland, Washington, Dr. Salemy combines experience, skill, and the latest techniques and technologies in plastic surgery with personal attention and customized treatment plans to provide his patients with truly outstanding results.
