Since 2008, Dr. Salemy has maintained an active membership in The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). Founded in 1931, the Society currently represents 94 percent of the nation’s board-certified plastic surgeons with the mission of engaging in advanced surgical practices and the ethical treatment of all patients. Its rigorous requirements for membership include graduation from an accredited medical school, the completion of a minimum of six years of surgical training (to include three years of plastic surgery training), passing the required oral and written comprehensive exams, and board certification by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. A commitment to the Society’s ongoing continued training programs results in superior quality care that translates into a strong sense of security for the patient.
In 2008, Dr. Salemy received the privilege in becoming a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). The FACS is an honor bestowed only on those practitioners who abide by high educational and professional standards and conduct.
The University of Washington School of Medicine has one of the nation’s top plastic surgery training programs. Dr. Salemy spent six years in residency at the school’s Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program, specializing in research of Craniofacial Surgery techniques. In 2013, he was appointed as Clinical Instructor in the University’s Department of Surgery, Plastic Surgery division, a position only offered to a select group of plastic surgeons, teaching chief residents in the areas of cosmetic surgery.
