Founded in 1931, the Society currently represents 94 percent of the nation’s board-certified plastic surgeons with the mission of engaging in advanced surgical practices and the ethical treatment of all patients. Its rigorous requirements for membership include graduation from an accredited medical school, the completion of a minimum of six years of surgical training (to include three years of plastic surgery training), passing the required oral and written comprehensive exams, and board certification by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. A commitment to the Society’s ongoing continued training programs results in superior quality care that translates into a strong sense of security for the patient.
