A browlift can help reduce furrows on the forehead, frown lines around the eyes, and drooping eyebrows to give you a younger and more refreshed appearance.
There are several ways to perform this procedure, each with a different incision location:
LIMITED INCISION LATERAL BROWLIFT:
Two small incisions are strategically placed behind the hairline to arc and elevate the corners of the brows.
OPEN BROWLIFT:
Incisions made at or above the hairline so that the skin can be lifted and the entire brow shape and position adjusted. This type of incision is typically chosen for individuals with significant brow ptosis
10 to 14 days: Initial wound healing
4 weeks: Patient may resume normal activities
An eyelid lift can reduce signs of ageing, reducing bags under eyes, and removing excess eyelid skin. During an eyelid lift, plastic surgeons remove excess skin and fat from around the lower and upper eyelid skin to create a more youthful appearance.
7 days: Sutures removed
2-4 weeks: Patient resumes normal activities
Rhinoplasty, or nose refinement surgery, helps improve the overall balance of the face. It focuses on reshaping any part of the nose, including nostrils, tip, or bridge. There are two types of rhinoplasty, open and closed.
OPEN RHINOPLASTY:
During this procedure a surgeon makes internal and external incisions. The external incision is made across the columella (area between nostrils). After the incisions are made, the surgeon can shape bone and cartilage.
CLOSED RHINOPLASTY:
A closed rhinoplasty involves making incisions inside the nose only. Once incisions are made, surgeons sculpt the bone and cartilage to the optimal shape.
Within first 7 days: Follow-up appointments with plastic surgeon and splint removal
7 to 14 days: Patient resumes normal activities
6 weeks: Swelling reduced
Up to a year: Swelling is gone
This procedure’s primary goal is to improve the jawline, jowling and neckline to give a more youthful appearance. There are several methods for performing a facelift:
TRADITIONAL:
An incision is made in front of the ear and continues around the earlobe and behind the ear into the hairline. Surgeons lift and reposition muscle and deep tissue, and also trim and redrape excess skin. Fat transfer to the midface may also be added to the procedure.
LIMITED INCISION:
Small incisions are made at the temples and around the ear to reduce deep creases and folds of the cheeks to the nasolabial folds.
NECK LIFT:
Surgeons make an incision around the earlobe and behind the ear to the lower scalp, as well as an incision under the chin. This facelift focuses on loose skin around the neck and under the chin.
1 day: Bandages and drains removed
7 days: Sutures removed
2 weeks: Surgical clips removed and patient can resume normal activities
Many men have excess breast tissue, a condition known as gynecomastia. This condition can be frustrating and embarrassing. However, this breast tissue can be surgically removed to achieve a more masculine chest.
Male breast surgery often involves liposuction to remove excess fat. Surgeons may make incisions along the areola or in the armpit to remove true excess breast tissue. In severe cases of gynecomastia, surgeons will also remove excess skin and tissue that cannot be removed by liposuction alone.
7 days: Patients return to work
6 weeks: Patients can return to working out
A tummy tuck removes excess fat and skin from the abdominal area to create a flatter stomach and a narrower waist. Tummy tucks are performed by placing an incision low on the bikini line and another around the navel. Surgeons stitch the abdominal muscles closer together to tighten muscles, remove excess fat and skin, the goal being to create a flatter abdomen and a narrower waist.
5 to 7 days: Patient rests and avoids walking around for long distances. Doctor removes draining tubes
2 weeks: Patients return to work
6 weeks: Patients wear compression garment to diminish swelling and promote healing.
6 weeks: Patient resumes normal activities
To achieve a fuller, more youthful appearance, many patients choose to get a Brazilian Butt Lift. During this procedure, surgeons remove excess fat from the tummy, hips, or thighs and transfer it to portions of the buttock. The fat is filtered before being transferred back into the body.
3 to 5 days: Patients experience soreness and wear a post-surgery garment
7 days: Patients return to work
4 to 6 weeks: Patients resume strenuous activities
Liposuction is the surgical technique of removing fat to shape certain areas of the body. Liposuction can be performed on the tummy, arms, legs, buttocks, hips, and neck to contour and remove extra fat. Plastic surgeons make small incisions and insert a small tube (cannula) that helps suction out excess fat.
7 days: can return to work in about a week
4 to 6 weeks: Patients wear a compression garment around the targeted area
4-6 weeks: Patients return to normal activities including exercise
Women with large, pendulous breasts may choose to undergo a breast reduction to alleviate back pain, neck pain, and skin irritation. Additionally, breast reduction surgery can help women feel less self-conscious about the size of their breasts.
During this procedure, an incision is made from the nipple to the crease beneath the breast. The surgeon removes fat, tissue, and skin from the breasts, resulting in a more proportional look. The nipple and areola may also be moved and reshaped before the area is closed with stitches.
2 weeks: Patients return to work
4 to 6 weeks: Patient wears surgical or sports bra
Over time, many women experience breast sagging. Due to gravity, weight loss, nursing, etc., skin loses its elasticity, and breasts can lose their shape. A breast lift can help raise and reshape the breast to restore a youthful appearance.
See the various methods to perform a breast lift.
TRADITIONAL:
This procedure involves making 3 incisions: around the nipple, from the nipple to the crease under the breast, and along the curve of the breast. The traditional technique is used for significantly saggy breasts.
VERTICAL:
A vertical technique involves two incisions: around the nipple and a vertical incision from the nipple to the crease of the breast. This technique is ideal for women with moderately saggy breasts.
CIRCUMAREOLAR:
This method involves an incision around the areola. It limits the amount of excess skin and tissue that can be removed and can reduce nipple projection.
1-2 weeks: Patients wear a surgical bra (replaced by soft support bra)
1 week: Patients return to work
6 weeks: Patient wears soft support bra
During breast augmentation, patients undergo cosmetic breast enhancement. Surgeons insert breast implants underneath the breast tissue and often muscle. Patients can choose between several different kinds of implants to achieve a desired look.
SALINE IMPLANTS:
These implants are filled with salt water. They are inserted into the patient and then filled with saline once they are positioned correctly.
SILICONE IMPLANTS:
Silicone implants are filled before surgery. Silicone may look and feel more like breast tissue than saline. These implants are a cohesive gel, not a liquid, and tend to maintain a nice shape over time.
2 to 4 days: Patient resumes non-strenuous daily activities
7 days: Meet with surgeon to check progress; can return to most types of work
2 to 4 weeks: Patient limits strenuous exercise
Several weeks: Patient wears surgical or supportive bra
Labiaplasty reduces the length and width of the labia. This procedure helps create a balanced more youthful appearance and reduce feelings of embarrassment or discomfort. During a labiaplasty, the surgeon will make incisions inside the labia and along the edge. Skin will be reshaped to create the desired contour and shape.
7 days: Patient can return to most normal work
14 days: Patients should not use tampons
6 weeks: Patient abstains from sexual intercourse
Good candidates for a browlift are men and women who are looking to improve their appearance by removing the heaviness of the forehead and brow. Patients should be healthy and should not smoke.
A browlift procedure can take between 2 and 3 hours.
Surgeons typically place incisions so they are well concealed within a crease, at or behind the hairline.
Good candidates for eyelid lifts are individuals without severe medical conditions, especially eye conditions, and who do not smoke.
This procedure will remove loose skin around the eye, which can reduce wrinkles. However, the surgery is not designed to remove wrinkles completely.
The results of an eyelid surgery should begin to show between 10 and 14 days after the procedure. However, final results may take a few months.
A rhinoplasty typically will last years or longer, even a lifetime.
Insurance may cover rhinoplasty if it is being performed for medical or reconstructive purposes.
Meeting with your surgeon before the procedure is the best way to prepare for surgery. Your surgeon will give you specific instructions to prepare. Additionally, stop smoking at least a month before surgery to improve recovery time.
The results of a facelift typically last for seven to ten years, but this time varies on an individual basis.
Facelifts can improve appearance by correcting midface sagging, jowls, sagging areas of fat, and loose skin and fat under the chin or jaw.
Good candidates for a facelift are women or men whose skin has begun to sag but still retains some elasticity. These men and women should not smoke.
After surgery, patients typically notice immediate improvement, but it will take several weeks for the swelling to completely resolve.
Good candidates for this surgery are men over the age of 18 who have excess glandular tissue and fat.
Follow the instructions given by your surgeon. You may need to stop taking some medications. You should also stop smoking.
2 to 3 hours.
A tummy tuck can remove stretch marks that are located on the skin of the lower abdomen. These stretch marks will be removed with excess skin.
Liposuction is a great procedure for patients with good skin tone and minimal stretch marks who are looking to contour their body. A tummy tuck is best for patients with separation of muscles, excess skin, and severe stretch marks, such as after weight loss or pregnancy.
This procedure takes between 2 and 3 hours.
A Brazilian Butt Lift involves transferring fat from your own body, eliminating fat from other areas of your body. Implants may be a better option for individuals with very little body fat.
The results from a Brazilian Butt Lift can last for years. However, to achieve longer-lasting results, patients should lead a healthy lifestyle and maintain a healthy weight.
Good candidates for liposuction include individuals who have fat in front of muscle instead of around organs. Good candidates also have good skin quality without a significant amount of excess fat, and are at or near their goal weight.
2 to 3 hours depending on the part of the body on which the procedure is performed.
Fat cells removed during liposuction will not grow back. However, patients should maintain a healthy diet and regular exercise schedule to maintain the best results.
This procedure takes around 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
Most patients who undergo breast reduction surgery experience relieved neck, shoulder, and back pain. Strenuous activities may also be easier.
Most patients experience a more active lifestyle and enjoy a more youthful appearance.
Good candidates for a breast lift include women who are satisfied with the size of their breasts and only desire improved shape or symmetry.
A breast lift only repositions the breast to make it higher and to increase firmness. Breast augmentation involves increasing the size of the breasts using implants. Often, but not always, both surgeries can be performed at once.
If a saline implant ruptures, the implant will deflate. Saline will absorb into your body without causing health problems, but you will need surgery to remove and replace the shell. If a silicone implant ruptures, you may not notice right away. Eventually, a ruptured silicone implant may cause breast pain or changes in breast contour, and your doctor will likely recommend removal and replacement of the ruptured implant.
Many plastic surgeons place incisions so that they are hidden underneath the breast or around the areola.
Labiaplasty procedures typically last for 90 minutes.
Good candidates for labiaplasty procedures are women who suffer from discomfort due to the size of the labia or who have cosmetic concerns.
You may need to stop taking certain medications, and you should stop smoking.
